Cookies policy

Privacy policyThis policy covers the cookies and similar technologies used on aragas.co.uk. It sits alongside our privacy policy, which explains what we do with personal information more generally.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something between pages or between visits — that you have already dismissed a banner, for example, or which pages have been viewed in a session. Similar technologies such as local storage and tracking pixels do much the same job, and this policy treats them the same way.
Our approach
We keep this to the minimum. Cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site are set as soon as you arrive, because the site cannot work without them. Everything else — analytics, embedded maps, video and anything used for advertising — is set only after you agree through the cookie banner, and you can change or withdraw that agreement at any time.
The categories we use
Strictly necessary
Keep the site secure, remember your cookie choices and hold the contents of an enquiry form while you complete it. These cannot be switched off and do not require consent.
Analytics
Count visits and show us which pages are read and which are ignored, so the site can be improved. The reports we see are aggregated. Set only with your consent.
Functional
Support embedded content such as a map showing our coverage or a review feed. These are set by the provider of that content when it loads, and only with your consent.
Advertising
Used where we run a paid campaign, to measure whether an advert led to an enquiry. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves and we do not sell audience data. Set only with your consent.

Providers rename and retire their cookies from time to time, so treat this as the current picture rather than a permanent list. If you find a cookie on the site that is not described here, tell us and we will either document it or remove it.
Changing your mind
Your choices are stored in the ara_consent cookie. Clearing cookies for this site brings the banner back, and you can then accept or refuse each category again. Refusing everything except strictly necessary cookies costs you no functionality: every page, form and phone number works exactly the same.
Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, either for all sites or for one. It is normally found under privacy settings.
Chrome

Safari
Settings ▸ Privacy, or Safari ▸ Settings ▸ Privacy on a Mac
Firefox

Edge

Blocking all cookies across every site will break parts of many websites, so a per-site setting is usually the better option.
What analytics tells us
Which pages are visited, roughly where in the country the visit came from, whether it was a phone or a computer, and how people arrived. It does not tell us your name, your address or your phone number, and we do not attempt to link analytics data to an enquiry or a job record.
Changes to this policy
This page is updated whenever the cookies on the site change. The date at the top shows the last revision. If a new category is added, the banner will ask you again rather than assume your previous answer covers it.
